A Ghoul by any other Name
Not so very long ago (at a Beaujolais Nouveau party) someone approached me and told me that I just HAD to consider buying a certain historical home in town. The current long-time owner was having difficulty maintaining the property.
It should be noted that I expressed interest in the house when I first moved to town but the owner was not ready to leave the family home.
Even less long ago I got a coroner’s call on a Friday night. It was a typical “found down” at home unattended death.
Guess which house I went to.
And now the owner’s son has called to see if I’m interested in purchasing the house.
Sometimes I even creep me out.
And with that I’m off to Chicago. Be good kids…I’m watching you.

Nice. Well, I’m going to be in Elgin all weekend. It’d be so cool to see you, but time is definitely NOT permitting.
So the coroner is the most popular person in Huron? That explains a few things about South Dakota…
Just think of the stirs you could cause at your parties with newbies when you reveal with a grand gesture the various features of the house and last but not least the spot where the owner died? Or maybe not on second thought depending on whether they are holding food and a drink and have a strong constitution (you know how utterly superstitious people still are about death in the 21st century). Still, a photo of the house would be nice to see, just so we can all hound you to buy it if it is a nice one.
Could you buy the house and open a BnB? We’d come visit! I still expect pics from your night with the boys!
