  • Weird Week

It’s been a strange week.  Lot’s of odd tumors.

An axillary (armpit) lymph node full of metastatic tumor from a primary tumor that I can’t identify.

An angiosarcoma on the leg of a patient with chronic lymphedema.

A large submandibular mass on a Cambodian that was diagnosed 8 years ago as cutaneous tuberculosis.  I don’t think it is.  I think it’s a growing and likely malignant salivary gland tumor.

Watch it Kids.  The Malignant Stick is whirling like a Dervish.  Don’t be the next one to get smacked.

  • It’s spinning off strange stuff down here.  I’ve had 2 patients with upper extremity venous thrombosis within the last 3 weeks.

  • I have a dog with heart disease and some on and off pain that two other Drs feel but when I see the dog I cannot duplicate. Human companion is well………. an enigma too (i don’t think her elevator goes all the way to the top floor), refuses all workups but wants the dog to be normal again. That has been the norm for the last couple of weeks here.

  • Gotta love a blog that says, “lots of odd tumors!”

But, um, i’m having trouble VISUALIZING.

    pictures please! hee hee.

that’s what cell phones are for, didn’tcha know?

  • Pathologist.. Are you the “I look at slides” pathologist, or the “let’s find out why this dude’s dead” pathologist?

  • @upandoutward - Yes and Yes.  I’m certified in both Anatomic and Clinical pathology.  I review surgical slides, perform autopsies, fine needle aspirations, bone marrows and manage both a clinical laboratory and blood bank.  I also do infectious disease and coagulation pathology consulting.

  • That would not be the stick I’d want to get smacked with..

I’m looking to stay out of the way of that one.

    Happy Wed mate,

  • I’d be horrified.
