Eleven Days
Eleven days between posts. I'm getting slack.
Holiday party. Christmas Eve at Special Someone's Grandfather's House. Christmas day lunch at Special Someone's Mother's house. Hofer Christmas. Soup and Sandwich Game Night. Pre-New-Year Soiree.
All of that in the space of a week. All went well. No squabbling. No serious injuries. No food poisoning. Good company. Good presents.
That would be the synoptic version of Christmas. Holiday Party pictures are on the photoblog. I have a few more to add but probably not until the weekend.
My two favorite presents...8 hours of Garage Organization/Yard Ape time and The Big Penis Book. The former will be incredibly useful, the latter incredibly entertaining.
Did you ever consider the amount of blood it takes to keep a 12+ inch penis erect? To fill the spongiosum could take 1/8 of the intravascular blood volume of the average male.
Imagine getting light-headed or passing out every time you got an erection. Bummer.

Party On!
Now that I've made it past the Lab Xmas Pot Luck it's time to prepare for my Holiday Party.
On the menu:
Spicy hot corn dip, crab cakes with roasted red pepper sauce, salmon ball, blue cheese ball, antipasta tray, tail-on chilled shrimp, beef tenderloin with stroganoff sauce, buffalo wings and pickle spears wrapped in cream cheese and corned beef.
I think dirty martinis will be the official party drink this year.
Oh...and we're supposed to have blizzard conditions all day tomorrow. Luckily Special Someone will be around to do a little snow removal.
Any y'all happen to be in the neighborhood be sure and stop in. There's always room for more.

My favorite part about tracking packages on the UPS website is looking at the button-nosed cutie that graces their home page.
Only 2 more gifts to get and I'll be home free for Christmas.

-How did I ever manage Xmas shopping before the advent (pun) of the Internet?
-The only positive thing about it being soooooooooo cold is that it makes my nipples hurt.
-I must remember to never listen to my sister's advice when it comes to buying gifts for my Mother.
-The level of passive-aggressiveness around here seems to be increasing as we get closer to Christmas.
-I just bought a Bass Pro gift card for my nephew for Christmas. I could feel Pink Points dropping off with every keystroke.
-A cocktail of Febreeze, Liquid Lysol and toilet bowl cleaner makes for a "stiff" drink.

The Theme for this week is Cold. The high for the week is predicted to be 5F. It hasn't gotten above zero fahrenheit during the past 24 hours.
And I, of course, have all sorts of silly errands to run.
Bleh.

TGIF
This week has seemed incredibly long.
I had one of my Special Visitors today. I don't think I've ever seen a pituitary tumor that big.
This one didn't moan or twitch. She just lay there. (Okay...so I've got a twisted mind. That's why y'all love me...right? Right?)
The weekend will be spent organizing my CDs so that I can load them into the 400 CD changer I just bought. I know...I know...when am I going to get with the 21st century and get an iPod? (Answer: probably never)
The high temp for Monday is predicted to be zero degrees fahrenheit. That would be Nipple-twisting cold in my book.
I'm lame and I'm outta here.

Moanin' and Groanin'
There is nothing quite so disquieting as beginning an autopsy and the "patient" groans and moans.
Seriously.
Makes for a quasi-code brown moment.
And no...the "patient" wasn't alive.
Just full of air...in the stomach...that was released when the lower esophageal sphincter relaxed.
It's even worse when they twitch.

I'm off for Sioux Falls for the weekend. Special Someone is having his Christmas party...the first one since 2003. He's been a busy little bee all week getting ready. My job...as usual...is the kitchen.
I've rediscovered Facebook. Actually, it would be truer to say that the IT people have returned my work access to Facebook. I'm currently collecting Friends amongst guys from my college fraternity. It's fascinating to see what has become of us in the (almost) twenty years since I graduated from Wabash College.
It's also interesting to see who has come out of the closet.
